ld: targeted OS version does not support use of thread local

On MacOSX Yosemite, while compiling Mpich, I get the following:

ld: targeted OS version does not support use of thread local variables in MPIU_Thread_CS_exit_lockname_recursive_impl for architecture x86_64

This happens when the gfortran used does not support Yosemite. New gfortran

compilers compatible with Yosemite can be found here:
