Hi, I am curious what the differences are between the mechanical equilibrium residual (md.stressbalance.restol) and the solver residue (md.settings.solver_residue_threshold), and what roles they play. It seems that the latter is not necessary and one can simply deactivate it with NaN.
There are circumstances where I have a transient model calculating velocity in a new time step, and after only a handful of stress balance iterations it throws an residue-too-high error and aborts the entire solution. Once I deactivate the solver residue threshold, the model runs fine and results look physically reasonable. So what is the point of the solver residue, in lieu of the stress balance residual?
