Hi,
I'm trying to use a PDD to derive daily melt input estimates for subsequent hydrological modelling. The model is set up on a 20x60km domain with flat bed and a parabolic surface reaching 1500 m.
I've tried the SMBpddSicopolis module, with monthly MAT using modern climate in central Finland (minus 5 degrees), and modern precipitation rates based on monthly rainfall. I've previously used this setup with a yearly timestep to relax an ice mass to steady state and that worked fine, but I was hoping to take the steady state geometry and then run this at a daily interval in order to estimate daily melt input across the domain.
However, whenever I do so, the output PDD melt rate remains constant throughout the year, rather than changing with the monthly temperature values as I expected. Is it possible to estimate daily melt in this way? I've used SMBpddSicopolis because for now I just want a steady state annual climate and I do fully understand the interpolation associated with the SMBpdd module...
A basic model setup, and domain is attached. Any assistance would be extremely helpful!
Best wishes,
Adam
