time series in md.thermal.spctemperature

Hello,
I am running a transient HO model and want to force the ice surface with a time series of air temperature. So I set md.thermal.spctemperature with this time series. But the extrude function in thermal.m/thermal.py has an if statement that checks the length of md.initialization.temperature and sets md.thermal.spctemperature=md.initialization.temperature. I don't really understand the purpose of the if statement. Does md.initialization.temperature have to be a time series in that case?

Hi Andreas,
I apologize again for the time it took me to get back to you. I agree with you these lines are confusing, and I will bring this up at our next ISSM meeting, they are there to just provide some default thermal boundary conditions when the model is extruded. In practice, boundary conditions for the thermal model have to be defined AFTER extrusions since we need to know what vertices are on the surface, so we never noticed that problem.
